On Monday, December 27, 2010, our Chivas Academy lost one of our friend, player and fellow academy member in Victor Lopez at a very young age of 14 years of age.Victor Lopez was one of the inital players who had been with our academy since it was founded. To his coaches, teammates and fellow academy members, he will be remembered as a very respectable young man who we could always count on to play up on much older teams because of his advanced soccer skills. He was an outstanding player who had great ball skills and lighting speed and usually was a “terror” on the soccer field for opposing players. He was constantly playing against players who were at least 3-4 years older. |
This past season although he was an U14, he played all games with our South Valley Chivas U16 team and even saw some action in our U18 team which was playing in the Nor Cal Premier Soccer League.Victor’s skills were so advanced that last year he was scouted by Vinicio Bravo and Pepe Vaca, Club America scouts and soccer legends and he was invited for a tryout in Mexico City, to which Victor spent a full week in Mexico City. “Vic” you will truly be missed by all of our academy and those whose lives he touched. Please keep the Lopez family in your prayers in these very difficult times.Services for Victor Lopez are pending and our being handled by Whitehurts-Peters-Myers Funeral and Cremation Service. |

On a personal note, Victor was more than just another soccer player to me. He was what I would call “my companion” on so many of those drives me and him would make from Terra Bella to Porterville for academy practice. No matter the season or weather, at around 5:30pm, Victor would be outside my Terra Bella home waiting for me to bring him to our Porterville practices.
He was also my “go to guy” for rounding up all our academy members from Terra Bella. All I had to do was call Vic and he would take care of calling everyone. I could always count of Victor to make sure everyone was ready for our weekend matches. I truely will miss him as we spent so many personally momemts with him when we were making the drive from Terra Bella for either an academy practice or a league match. I can still remember all the times Victor made me stop by my Porterville home for a quick swim and plus all the times he made me stop by Taco Bell after practice before heading back to Terra Bella.
You will not be forgotten and may you rest in peace buddy!!!
