On Friday Aug. 1, 2014 a group of about 30 South Valley Chivas Academy players and their family members were hosted by Fresno State Women’s Soccer coaching staff for a tour of the Fresno State campus and Bulldog athletic facilites.
Fresno State Women Soccer head coach Brian Zwaschka and assistant coaches Lauren McAdam and Sean Steele were personally available to our group at certain times during the tour.
Coaches Lauren and Sean took the group on a tour of the Fresno State Campus which consisted of touring of the South Gym, Henry Madden Library, University Student Union Center, Rose Garden and ended with a tour of the Women Soccer practice field and Bulldog Stadium.
After arriving back at the Fresno State Bulldog’s athletic facilites center Head Coach Brian and assistant Sean took the group on a tour of the state of the art, Meyers Family Sports Medicine Center which serves as the athletic training building for all Fresno State Bulldog sports. The center is essential facility developed for preventative medicine, nutritional counseling, physician examination, injury treatment, on-site x-ray and rehabilitation services. The center centralize several student-athlete support functions, including sports medicine, academic counseling, strength and conditioning, nutrition education, and equipment services within a single secure location.
The tour continued on to the Richiuti Academic Strength and Conditioning Center which serves as the main hub for all Fresno State sports for strength and conditioning. This recently renovated facility houses all the “weight lifting” equipment and incorporates a small scale indoor turf speed track for athletes to work on short distance sprints/takeoff, etc.
The final part of our tour was a classroom and Q&A session with Bulldog athletic supporting staff of the athletic services and compliance office. Athletic services office staff member Robert PageSmith talked to the group about all the academic and student services which are available to all Bulldog athletics. Compliance Office staff member Aj Schaufler spoke to the group about NCAA eligibility requirements.
Coach Brian spent the final part of the classroom session talking to the group specifically about the Fresno State Women Soccer department and some aspects of his recruiting process.
On behalf of the South Valley Chivas Academy coaching staff, players and their families, we would like to take the time to personally thank Brian, Lauren, Sean, Robert and Aj for taking time from their busy schedules to be accessible to our group during our visit to Fresno State. It was a very enlightening and informative visit for most of our players and their families. Thank you again for your time which was gratefully appreciated.
