Alexis Hernández Gutiérrez, of the South Valley Chivas Academy in the San Joaquin Valley city of Porterville, Calif., was a part of the Mexican U-17 National Team for the Torneo Internacional Acapulco 2008. The tournament ran from Feb. 19-23 and the Mexican second side was crowned champions of its group after picking up a draw and a win. Hernández started the team’s second game and was a part of the 3-0 tournament-clinching win against Chilpancingo, a game seen by Jesús Ramírez, the head of Mexico’s youth national teams. The South Valley Chivas Academy is a licensed academy affiliated with Chivas USA that promotes the Chivas philosophy and heritage.
